Fight Brain Tumors With Yoga Saturday
Jagannathan Neurosurgery in Troy will be doing its part to raise funds for the National Brain Tumor Society on Saturday.
TROY, MI — Jagannathan Neurosurgery in Troy will be doing its part to raise funds for the National Brain Tumor Society in May. A fundraiser will be held Saturday at the Center for Yoga in Birmingham and spots are still open for a minimum $10 per person donation.
Dr. Jay Jagannathan, known as one of the United States' top neurosurgeons, believes more funding is needed for research and treatment of the 120 different forms of brain tumors that exist today. That’s why he’s participating in Saturday’s fundraiser. Jagannathan Neurosurgery will match all donations up to $3,500.
"This event is a wonderful opportunity to support a medical cause that often goes unnoticed and continues to need funding for research and education," said Dr. Jagannathan, who has treated hundreds with brain tumors in recent years.
Approximately 700,000 people in the United States are living with a primary brain tumor and 78,000 more are diagnosed annually. A total of 16,000 deaths in our country each year are due to malignant brain tumors.
In spite of advances in medical technology, the survival for many malignant brain tumors has not changed substantially over the past 80 years. May is National Brain Tumor Awareness Month.
