Fire Damages Troy Home

A Hannah Street home was recently damaged by what officials believe was an accidental fire.

TROY, MI — A Hannah Street home was recently damaged by what officials believe was an accidental fire. The home’s vinyl siding, a backyard deck and at least one window was damaged in the fire. No injuries were reported.

The fire started on the deck during the evening hours of May 10, according to an Oakland Press report. Occupants of the home were alerted to the fire by the sound of a breaking window. The fire had spread to the rear of the home by the time the homeowner was aware of the blaze, the newspaper reported.

The fire department was called to the scene, but the homeowner was able to extinguish the fire before firefighters arrived. Troy Assistant Fire Chief Chuck Riesterer said the fire appeared to be contained to the rear of the home and did not get into the attic, the Press reported.
