Gun-Pointing Woman Charged With Felony

A freeway confrontation in Troy leads to a woman being charged with a felony.

TROY, MI — A 56-year-old Waterford woman was arrested and charged with Felonious Assault with a Handgun after a recent incident on the exit ramp of I-75 and Rochester Road in Troy. Police reports said the woman pointed a .40-caliber handgun at a St. Clair Shores man whom she allegedly tailgated on the highway.

The 52-year-old man was driving a 2000 Dodge Dakota pickup truck at about 3:30 p.m. on June 3 when incident occurred. He told officers the woman, who was driving a Chevrolet Impala, tailgated him and that when they stopped at the end of the exit ramp, he asked her why.

The man said she then pointed the gun at him and told him to, “get away.” Reports said officers took a Smith and Wesson gun from her and that it contained seven rounds of ammunition with one chambered.

Officers spoke with the woman, who allegedly admitted to pointing the handgun at the truck, but only after hearing an object strike her vehicle twice. According to police reports, she told officers she saw a bolt in the roadway near her vehicle and assumed the man had thrown it at her car.

Officers searched the the truck and found several bolts and screws. Officers also located a lug nut and a bolt and screw at the end of the exit ramp, reports said. The St. Clair Shores man was issued a misdemeanor citation for Throwing an Object at a Vehicle and was released from the scene.
