Hamilton Elementary Math Students Soar With Help From High School Mentors

During the academic year 2022-2023, Hamilton Elementary School participated in the highly anticipated MI/OH Math Pentathlon tournament. With a strong team of dedicated students and a supportive principal, Dr. Recker, the school demonstrated exceptional mathematical prowess and sportsmanship throughout all divisions.

Hamilton School’s team members displayed remarkable performances during the tournament across different mathematical games and challenges. From the strategy-based game of “Queens and Guards” to the pattern recognition in “Juggle,” the students showcased their comprehensive understanding of mathematical concepts and their ability to apply them in a competitive setting. Their hard work and dedication paid off as Hamilton School secured several victories and earned an impressive collection of medals.

Out of the 45 Hamilton students who competed, many won Gold, Silver, Bronze and Honorable Mention awards, along with Penatheltes awards (for Participation). One of the students (Ethan Wang) also won a Hall of Fame award, meaning he won all five games in the tournament. The success of Hamilton School’s team can be attributed not only to the students’ individual abilities but also to the unwavering support and guidance their high school student coaches provided.

The high school students are members of Reboot Future (a 501c3 non-profit organization founded by IAE Junior Nideesh Srivatsavan) who created the math club four years ago.
