The House today approved legislation introduced by Rep. Martin Howrylak that will move the filing deadline for township annual meeting proposals to the same deadline as other local proposals.
House Bill 4394 is part of a larger five bill package that streamlines other local filing deadlines including local millages and school board ballot questions.
"During the last few years, election dates have been consolidated but filing deadlines have not," said Howrylak, R-Troy. "This legislation is a common sense bill that will allow the local election consolidation to be updated completely. This package is good for Michigan residents because it unifies filing deadlines, adds clarity and simplifies the procedures for ballot questions. It will help our local and county clerks handle and deal with ballot question submissions in a timely and effective manner."
