I-696 Will Be Partially Closed This Weekend In Oakland County

The road closures are detailed below.

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI — Advance warning! I-696 in Oakland County will be closed this weekend to allow the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) to inspect the bridge plaza superstructure supporting the plaza over I-696 at Church St., according to the MDOT's website. Apparently, crews discovered some beams were deteriorating earlier this summer while working on another construction project.

Below please find the specific road closures, courtesy of the MDOT:

Saturday, Dec. 3 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.: Westbound I-696 will be closed between Coolidge Hwy and Greenfield Rd. The M-1 (Woodward Ave.) and Coolidge Highway ramps to westbound I-696 will also be off-limits.

Sunday, Dec. 4 from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m.: Eastbound I-696 will be closed between Greenfield Rd. and Coolidge Hwy. The Southfield Rd. and Evergreen Rd. ramps to eastbound I-696 will also be shut down.
