Inkster Teen Who Received Make-A-Wish Shopping Spree in Troy Dies

Friends and classmates are taking to Twitter to remember 18-year-old Nakeya Pinkston, who was diagnosed with cancer less than two years ago.

Soft-spoken 17-year-old Nakeya Pinkston was all smiles in December as she at in , courtesy of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Michigan.

The teen, who turned 18 this February, received the wish roughly a year after being diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma – a cancer of the muscles that are attached to bone.

But on Wednesday, Nakeya apparently succumbed to her illness, and her friends took to Twitter to mourn her passing.

Both "Nakeya" and "R.I.P Nakeya" are trending on Twitter in Detroit Wednesday evening as friends, classmates and acquaintances continue to express their shock and sadness.

Funeral arrangemnts for Nakeya have not yet been made.
