Lady Jane's Trying to Make Guinness World Records Book 'Wicked Awesome'

For some, getting a haircut can be seen as regular hygienic maintenance. This Friday, shaggy-haired men of Troy can get a haircut of much greater significance.

Lady Jane's Haircuts for Men staff at its Troy location (3921 Rochester Road) will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most haircuts in 12 hours by a group of 10 stylists as well as the individual record for most haircuts by an individual stylist in 12 hours. Lady Jane's are offering the cuts free of charge and signing up those interested for appointments all week long.

The event marks the launch of the Troy-based chain's charitable foundation, Wicked Awesome Wishes, which seeks to connect families in need with those who can help, through ownership including President Tim McCollum. 

"It's an opportunity for us to say thanks for coming to our place to get a haircut and give back to the community," McCollum said. "We wanted to find the right avenue to give back and we want to give back directly to help people in need."

McCollum said that the staff are aiming for 400 haircuts total between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. In addition to the scissors flying, Lady Jane's offers food and family fun at the Troy location.

"We're saying that we're going to make haircut history, but we want to have a little fun, too," McCollum said.
