Local Wells Fargo Office Sponsors Memorial Garden Honoring 9-year-old Cancer Victim
The Pontiac garden is dedicated to 9-year-old Adie Farnum, who died of cancer in 2011.
Wells Fargo employees, including employees from , donated money and labor last Thursday to build a new memorial garden on the campus of the Arts andΒ Technology Academy of Pontiac (ATAP) charterΒ school.
The garden is dedicated to the memory of Adalin βAdieβ Farnum of Lansing. Adie passed away in October 2011 at the age of nine following aΒ battle with cancer.
βAdieβs Gardenβ features a large stone bearing theΒ engraving: βKeep practicing random acts of kindness until Adie tells you toΒ stop.β

According to her parents, James and Tammy Farnum of the EastΒ Lansing area, one of Adieβs final wishes was for her family and friends to commitΒ random acts of kindness βuntil I say stop.β The stone is a reminder of thatΒ wish.
Labor and funding for garden materials were donated by WellsΒ Fargo Advisors employees from across Metro Detroit. Michael Anderson, aΒ financial advisor in the companyβs Northville office, is Adieβs uncle, and hisΒ colleagues were touched by the familyβs story. English Gardens also donatedΒ supplies.

The garden dedication ceremony was followed by aΒ luncheon for ATAP students sponsored by Wells Fargo Advisors. Wells Fargo Advisors funds a monthly mobile food pantryΒ at the school in partnership with Gleaners Community Food Bank.
βThe garden will be a place for our students and theirΒ families to gain some serenity and also some perspective,β ATAP ChiefΒ Administrative Officer Septembra Williams said. βAdieβs final wish for us all toΒ commit random acts of kindness is a valuable guiding principle for our schoolΒ and our community.β
