Man Arrested After 9-Year-Old Boy Accidentally Shoots Himself At Troy Home: Police
The boy remains in critical condition.
TROY, MI β A man has been arrested in connection with an accidental shooting that left a 9-year-old boy critically injured in Troy last week, according to police.
The shooting happened at 4:12 p.m. Friday, May 30, inside a home on Crooks Road in Troy, according to police.
When officers arrived, they found the boy bleeding from his head, according to police.

The boy was taken to a local hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery. He remains in critical condition.
Zanious Terell Murphy, 23, was arrested in connection with the shooting. He was charged with violation of firearm safe storage causing serious injury to a minor. He was placed in jail with a bond set at $30,000.

If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison.
Police recovered a gun inside the home and are working to determine how the child gained access to the weapon, as well as the circumstances that led to the incident.
The childβs mother was present in the home at the time of the shooting, police said.
Murphy is not related to the child, though they lived in the home together, police said.
The incident remains under investigation.
