Man Tragically Takes His Own Life With A Helium Tank

Deputies from the Oakland County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.

OAKLAND COUNTY, MI — A 25-year-old man tragically took his own life by way of a helium tank, according to a news release.

On Nov. 20 at 12:07 p.m., Oakland County Sheriff's Office deputies and the Commerce Township Fire Department were dispatched to the 4000 block of Carrol Lake Rd. in Commerce Township. Deputies discovered the unresponsive Commerce Township man, who had placed a plastic bag over his head and fastened a tube from the bag to a helium tank.

The man was taken to Huron Valley Hospital where he was pronounced dead. A Detective and an Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office Investigator were summoned to the scene. The incident is under investigation.
