Where the Orange Barrels Are: Weekend Construction Update for Troy
Here is what the Road Commission for Oakland County and the Michigan Department of Transportation will be working on this weekend.

Whether you're planning on staying in town or escaping this weekend, here's the road construction you need to know about.Â
In Troy
- The Road Commission for Oakland County will continue to resurface the a section of Livernois Road from just north of Big Beaver to just north of Wattles. The road is reduced to one lane in each direction. The project is expected to be complete by Sept. 30.
- RCOC will also continue to resurface 14 Mile Road from just west of Campbell to just east of Stephenson Highway. The road will remain open during construction, but is reduced to one lane in each direction. Campbell Road is closed on the south side of 14 Mile until approximately Sept. 12, and the project is expected to be complete by Oct. 1.
- The Michigan Department of Transportatin will close the left two lanes of southbound I-75 from Coolidge to Crooks roads from 9 p.m. Friday until 10 a.m. Saturday for pavement repair.
In the area
Interstate 696:
- In Macomb County, sign truss installation will require the following restrictions on I-696 just east of Mound Road:
- A right lane closure on westbound I-696, and a left lane closure on eastbound I-696 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Friday.
- A right lane closure on westbound I-696, along with the closure of the westbound I-696 exit to Mound Road from 6 a.m. Saturday until 4 p.m. Sunday.
- Multiple lanes closed with a 15-minute total closure on westbound I-696 from 6 a.m. – 10 a.m. Sunday to install the truss.

- In Wayne County, northbound I-275 will be reduced to a single lane from Ecorse to Michigan Ave from 8 p.m. Thursday until 5 a.m. Friday for paving.
Interstate 75:
- In Oakland County, the left two lanes of northbound I-75 will be closed from Davisburg to Grange Hall roads from 8 p.m. Thursday until 7 a.m. Monday for pavement repair. In addition, the northbound Dixie Highway ramp to northbound I-75 will be closed during the same time frame.
- In Oakland County, the left two lanes of northbound I-75 will be closed from Clintonville Road to M-15 from 8 p.m. Thursday until 7 a.m. Friday for maintenance work.
- In Wayne County, a single lane closure on northbound and southbound I-75 between King and Sibley roads from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. Friday. Crews will shift northbound traffic onto the newly rebuilt northbound lanes, with two lanes open. Two lanes of traffic will be maintained on southbound I-75 until all traffic can be shifted onto the northbound pavement later in the weekend. Two way traffic will be maintained on northbound I-75 until mid-November.
- In Oakland County, a double lane closure on northbound I-75 from Dixie Highway to Holly Road from 8 p.m. Friday until 7 a.m. Saturday for maintenance work.
- In Oakland County, the left two lanes of northbound I-75 will be closed from Clintonville Road to M-15 from 9 p.m. Friday until 4 p.m. Sunday for pavement repair.
- In Oakland County, northbound I-75 will have two lanes closed from Holly to Grange Hall roads from 8 p.m. Saturday until 7 a.m. Sunday, and again from 8 p.m. Sunday until 7 a.m. Sunday.
Interstate 94:

- In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-94 will have a single lane closed between 23 Mile and County Line roads from 9 p.m. Friday until 6 a.m. Monday for ongoing road work.
- In Detroit, eastbound and westbound I-94 will have a single lane closure during daylight hours (7 a.m. – 7 p.m.) and a double lane closure during the overnight hours starting at 9 p.m. Friday and ending by 5 a.m. Monday between I-96 and Michigan Avenue for ongoing bridge work.
- All lanes eastbound will be open Sunday from 7 a.m. – 1 p.m. for Lions Game day traffic.
- In Wayne County, westbound I-94 will have two lanes closed west of Belleville Road from 8 p.m. – 11 p.m. Friday for bridge work. A single lane will be closed from 9 a.m. -3 p.m.
- In Wayne County, the right lane of eastbound I-94 will be closed from Vining to Merriman roads from 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Sunday for barrier wall repair.
- In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-94 will have single and double lane closures between Shook Road and M-59 from 9 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday for maintenance work.
Interstate 96:
In Oakland County, the westbound I-96 ramp to southbound Milford Road will be closed from 6 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday for ongoing bridge work.
M-1 (Woodward Avenue):
In Oakland County, northbound and southbound Woodward will have double lane closures between 14 Mile and I-696 from 11 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday for maintenance work.Â
M-15:
In Oakland County, M-15 will be reduced to a single lane with flag control between Wolfe and Ray roads from 7 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m Monday for resurfacing.
M-29:
In Macomb County, northbound and southbound M-29 between Baker and County Line roads will have a single lane closure from 8 a.m. Saturday until 5 a.m. Monday for utility work.
New construction beginning Monday, Sept. 10
Interstate 94:
- In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-94 will have double lane closures NIGHTLY between North River Road and 23 Mile Road beginning at 7 p.m. and ending by 5 a.m. the following morning starting Monday night and ending Friday morning for maintenance work.
- In Macomb County, eastbound and westbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane NIGHTLY between 23 Mile and County Line roads beginning at 9 p.m. and ending by 5 a.m. the following morning starting Monday night and ending Friday morning for resurfacing
