Northminster to Host Outdoor Blessing of the Animals

The public is invited to bring pets of all kinds to be blessed by Rev. Charlotte Sommers on Sept. 30.

in Troy will host the third annual community-wide outdoor Blessing of the Animals Service at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30.

The general public is invited to bring pets of all kinds as Rev. Charlotte Sommers offers a special blessing for each individual animal. There will also be general prayers for healing of pets who are ill and a thanksgiving for those that are deceased.

In addition, Dr. Kathryn Christy, DVM, the owner of in Troy, will offer “Health Tips for Pets” and answer questions. Music, refreshments and pet treats will be provided. 

“Animals and pets are a special part of our lives, as they give us so much comfort, joy, and unconditional love,” Sommers said. “We welcome everyone in the community to bring their pets large and small to our special outdoor service so we may celebrate their lives and offer a blessing to them.”

Each participant will receive a Blessing Certificate, and a family photo taken with their pet will be emailed. If a pet cannot be brought to the service, participants may bring a photo and complete a special blessing card.
