Oakland Co. Teen, 17, Killed In MI Crash On 1-96: Sheriff

Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

OKEMOS, MI β€” A 17-year-old boy was killed in a rollover crash on Interstate 96 in Ingham County over the weekend, according to the county's sheriff's office.

The crash happened at 7:20 a.m. Saturday on westbound Interstate 96 near Meridian Road in Okemos, sheriff's officials said.

Officials said the 17-year-old boy from Troy was inside a car that veered off the roadway and crashed into the median, rolling over several times before coming to rest in the eastbound lanes.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, officials said.

Two backseat passengers were thrown from the car, officials said.

Officials said the 17-year-old boy was killed in the crash.

The 22-year-old driver suffered "serious injuries" and a 20-year-old was critically injured, but was listed in stable condition, officials said.

A fourth person was not injured in the crash, officials said.

Officials said all four people are from Troy.

Investigators do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, which was still under investigation.

Officials did not release the victim's names.
