Why do you believe the teacher should be recognized or honored?

Mrs. Stedman is one of the most incredible teachers I have met. I was so fortunate that she was my son's teacher. She is so kind and welcoming which made for such a nurturing environment which was significant in their growth in seeking knowledge naturally. Mrs. Stedman also has a natural way of building in supports that assist our language learners at Hamilton. She incorporates many strategies that help these incredible young learners as they begin to learn English such as visuals, wait time, repetition of directions, paper choice, and partner support. When Mrs. Stedman has not yet figured out how to support a student’s success, she is also quick to reach out to colleagues for guidance, such as our literacy specialist and English language development specialist. Even after twenty years in the field of education, Mrs. Stedman is a team player who will always strategize and collaborate to support the needs of any student who walks into her classroom. She meets her kids where they are academically, socially, and emotionally... and does so willingly and with positivity. Because she thinks exactly about what each child can do as an individual, and what the child is ready to do next, Mrs. Stedman’s students soar.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the teacher?

As parents we may be quick to panic about any challenges with our children. One important lesson that I will carry with me forever is to listen to your children. Really, listen to them and watch them because there is always a story to take away from them.

The dynamic road map to the success of our children is through early childhood education. By using these principles Mrs. Stedman naturally guides children by developing their social emotional skills to navigate the world around them through kindness, confidence, and character.
