Opa! Fest Highlights Greek Food, Culture
St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Troy will host Opa! Fest
TROY, MI — Opa! Fest is coming to Troy June 23-25 and will feature folk music, dancing and plenty of traditional Greek cuisine, from gyros to souvlakia and spanakopita. St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, which is located 760 W. Wattles Road between Crooks and Livernois roads, will host the event from 4-11 p.m. on June 23, 4-11 p.m. on June 24 and from noon to 8 p.m. on June 25.
The cost of admission to Opa! Fest is just $2 while children 12-years-old and younger get in for free. Also, free admission will be granted to folks bringing at least three cans of food. The donations will go to the Gleaners Community Food Bank of Southeastern Michigan.
“Opa! Fest will feature folk music, dancing, the Plaka Marketplace — with authentic Greek merchandise and a bookstore — a wine tasting, children’s games and rides, and food to eat on the grounds and to take home. There will be formal, guided tours of the church and its iconography.
