Overnight Thefts from Cars and More Reported to Troy Police
The following information about police incidents is taken directly from the most recent Troy Police Department media releases.

Breaking and entries
Barnard Elementary, 3601 Forge, July 21, 11 p.m.: Complainant advised the school alarm went off. Maintenance personnel checked the building and found a roof hatch opened and a security light smashed. Nothing was reported stolen.
Crash investigations
Interstate-75 and Wattles, July 25, 11:20 a.m.: Troy Officers responded to an accident scene where a vehicle traveling in the left lane drove off the roadway struck the guardrail and then drove across all three lanes and struck the guardrail again. The responsible driver was identified as a 63-year-old Hazel Park resident and was observed to be confused with slurred speech. The driver was unable to perform field sobriety tests and admitted to taking prescription medicine. A blood test was conducted with results pending.
Credit, check, identity theft, other fraud
4000 block of Navin Field, July 5-6, 9 a.m. to 9 a.m.: Resident advised her credit card had been compromised by someone trying to make several online purchases. Resident advised she did not authorize any transactions.Â

100 block of Vanderpool, July 21-23, 12 noon to 5 p.m.: Resident advised a Verizon account was opened in his name without permission. Resident discovered the fraud when he received a bill in the mail for the account.Â
Apple Store, 2800 West Big Beaver, July 24, 12:46 p.m.: Complainant advised he accidently left his credit card at a Subway. When he called his bank to cancel it he was advised a purchase was made at the Apple Store for $2,700. Complainant advised he did not make this purchase.

Drugs/narcotics
Red Roof Inn, 2350 Rochester Court, July 24, 1:37 a.m.: Troy Officers were dispatched to a fight in progress. Officers made contact with the suspects who stated they were friends wrestling and had been drinking. Officers returned to the room where the suspects were staying a strong odor of marijuana was emanating from the room. The suspect, a 31-year-old Virginia Beach, VA resident would not comply with Officers when they asked him to remove his hands from his pockets for safety reasons. The suspect admitted to having marijuana in the hotel room and was arrested for disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana, and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.
Raintree Park, 3775 John R Road, July 24, 1:46 p.m.: Troy Officers responded to a complainant of people smoking marijuana in the park. Officers located the suspects, 17-year-old and 18-year-old Troy residents. Both suspects were found to be in possession of marijuana and were arrested for possession of marijuana.Driving under influence of alcohol/drugsÂ
Interstate-75 and Rochester, July 23, 4:13 a.m.: Troy Officers were dispatched to a complainant of a drunk driver. Witness stated the vehicle was "all over the roadway and almost crashed into guardrail." Officers located the vehicle, observing it swerve out of its lane several times. The drive, a 40-year-old Eastpointe resident was observed with extremely slurred speech and glassy eyes. The driver failed field sobrieties and advised officers he had been drinking and smoking marijuana. Officers discovered a marijuana cigarette in the vehicle. The driver was arrested for operating under the presence of drugs A blood test was conducted with results pending.

100 block of Vanderpool, July 22-24, 9 p.m. to 9 a.m.: Complainant advised hundreds of electrical wire was stolen from the residence under construction. The electrical wire had already been installed, estimated value of damage $3,000.Â
Larcenies from autos
2000 block of Dorchester, July 23-24, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.: Complainant reports someone stole a pair of Ray Ban sunglasses and a golf club from his unlocked vehicle. The items stolen were valued at $350.
5000 block of Buckingham Place Drive, July 22-23, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.: Complainant advised he secured his 2012 Ford SUV in the lot leaving his wallet on the arm rest in the vehicle. When he returned he found his passenger window smashed and his wallet and GPS missing.Â
1000 block of Falcon, July 21-23, 11 p.m. to 9 a.m.: Resident reports her 2004 Chevy Impala was parked in the driveway overnight. Resident discovered her glove box had been entered and vehicle registration, insurance and manual were missing.Â
Malicious destruction of property
1000 block of Doyle Drive, July 24-25, 4 p.m. to 7 a.m.: Complainant stated he discovered graffiti on the walls of the new train station under construction.
1000 block of Jackson, July 24-25, 4:30 p.m. to 10 a.m.: Complainant stated her 2003 Honda was parked in the street when she returned she discovered a 16-inch key scratch on the trunk lid.
Retail fraudÂ
Kohl's, 500 John R Road, July 23, 9:42 p.m.: Loss Prevention advised two suspects, a 17-and 16-year-old from Detroit, were observed selecting merchandise and concealing in their purses. The suspects then exited the store without paying for the merchandise. Officers stopped the suspects and recovered 24 items valued at $673.50. The 17-year-old suspect was arrested for retail fraud. The 16-year-old suspect was processed as a juvenile and released to her father.
JCPenney, 700 West Fourteen Mile Road, July 25, 5:58 p.m.: Loss prevention advised the suspect, a 40-year-old Sterling Heights resident was observed selecting a necklace and placing it in her purse. The suspect then left the store failing to pay for the necklace. Loss prevention stopped the suspect and recovered the necklace valued at $18. The suspect was arrested for retail fraud.
