Neighbors, schools, and traffic along Livernois were central to months of debate, with residents ultimately supporting a compromise that preserves three existing homes and limits further eastward expansion.
   

2. Man who fatally shot intoxicated firefighter resentenced in Oakland County (theoaklandpress.com) — A Detroit man has been resentenced for the 2021 shooting death of a Rochester Hills firefighter after a confrontation that ended at a Troy gas station, with Troy police later receiving his report. The Michigan Court of Appeals ordered a new trial over jury instruction errors, leading him to plead no contest to voluntary manslaughter and receive a reduced sentence with credit for time served.
   

3. Man accused of groping woman, spraying lotion on another in Oakland County pleads no contest (clickondetroit.com) — A Troy gas station is one of two Oakland County locations where a man admitted to inappropriate contact with women and has now pleaded no contest to related charges. The incidents occurred in Auburn Hills and Troy in June, and sentencing is scheduled for January 22, 2026.

Untested evidence questioned after testimony details fire cause in Troy hyperbaric chamber explosion (clickondetroit.com) — A Troy Fire Department deputy chief testified that static electricity likely caused the deadly hyperbaric chamber explosion at the Oxford Center in Troy, saying a grounding strap might have reduced the risk. Defense attorneys pressed him on untested evidence as four workers face serious charges, with the preliminary hearing set to continue in January.
