Man Unknowingly Brings Live Grenade to Work; Naked Man Arrested

Girls fight at classmate's home
A 17-year-old Troy girl reported she had been assaulted at a classmate's home on the 2000 block of London last Friday afternoon. The girl said she and a third female classmate argued, and the girl then pulled the victim's hair, punched her in the face and pulled her sweater over her head, according to a Troy Police media release.
According to the victim, a fourth classmate pulled the girl off the victim and escorted the victim from the home. The victim received minor injuries that did not require medical attention.

Man, naked, arrested in own yard
A 56-year-old Troy man living on th 5000 block of Livernois was arrested Monday evening after a neighbor called police to say the man was walking around the back yard naked.
When officers arrived, they discovered the man sitting naked on a folding chair in his own back yard. According to the media release, the man said he was minding his own business and not doing anything wrong. The man was arrested for indecent exposure.

Man brings father's "fake" grenade to work
A man discovered a grenade while clearing out his father's Stanwood, MI home. The man's father was a Korean War veteran, and the man took the grenade to work Tuesday morning, thinking it was a fake, according to a Troy Police media release.Β
After further inspection, the man called Troy Police, who determined the grenade was genuine. The Michigan State Police Bomb Disposal Unit responded and transported the grenade to the Troy Department of Public Works yard, where it was detonated.
Drunken driving and under-the-influence arrests
Troy Police officers made several arrests related to drunken driving or driving under the influence this week. The most notable are:
- A 20-year-old man from Ferndale, who was stopped Sunday evening after speeding 95 m.p.h. on Interstate 75 near Crooks Road. The man smelled of alcohol and marijuana, and Troy Police allegedly discovered an ecstasy pill in the man's pocket. The man was arrested and charged with possession of narcotics and operating under the influence of drugs.
- A 37-year-old Dearborn man, who was arrested for possession of cocaine with intent to deliver after he was stopped for a seat belt violation near 14 Mile and John R roads Tuesday evening. The man initially provided police with a fake name. He was found to be in possession of more than $1,000 in cash, a bag of cocaine and a scale. He was also charged with driving while license suspended.
- A 24-year-old Lake Orion man, who was arrested early Sunday morning for operating while intoxicated after he lost control of his vehicle, landing on the median near Interstate 75 and Coolidge Highway. The man admitted to having two 24-ounce beers before driving; his preliminary breath test results were 0.16 β twice the legal limit.
- A 40-year-old Warren man, who was arrested early Sunday morning near Rochester and Lamb and charged with operating while intoxicated and possession of a firearm while intoxicated. The man has a valid concealed pistol license; preliminary breath test results were 0.09 percentβ0.01 percent over the legal limit.
