Oakland County Sheriff: 67-Year-Old Man Died In House Fire

The cause of the fire is currently undetermined, according to deputies.

OXFORD TOWNSHIP, MI — A 67-year-old Oxford Township man died Monday in a mobile home fire, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies and the Oxford Fire Department responded to the 300 block of Crestwood Drive around 3:18 p.m. Monday for a report of a residential structure fire, deputies said. A caller had reported that his neighbor’s mobile home was on fire and the neighbor was still inside the home, according to deputies.

The residence was fully engulfed when deputies arrived on scene, deputies said. Deputies attempted to enter the residence, but were unsuccessful due to the heavy smoke, deputies said. The Oxford Fire Department extinguished the fire and discovered the victim inside of the residence, according to deputies.

The Oxford Fire Chief requested the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office Fire Investigations Unit to respond to the scene, the sheriff's office said.

The cause of the fire is currently undetermined, according to deputies. An autopsy will be conducted, deputies said.
