Suspected Thief Bites Macy's Employees, Tagged With Felony: Police
An Ann Arbor man fought employees, whom police said were trying to stop from stealing merchandise.

TROY, MI — A 29-year-old Ann Arbor man was charged with aggravated felony assault after recently punching and biting Macy’s Department Store employees, according to Troy Police Department reports. He entered the 14 Mile Road store at about 9 p.m. Wednesday and attempted to steal $11 worth of merchandise, police said.
Several loss prevention employees confronted the man before he could leave Macy’s. Police reports said he began to fighting with them and punched a female employee in the face and eye. The Ann Arbor man allegedly then bit a male employee in the left hand, left forearm, left chest area, and the right shoulder, Troy Police said.
Responding officers and loss prevention employees were then finally able to subdue the man, reports said. Troy Police checked the backpack the suspect used to conceal the stolen merchandise and recovered it.

Police also found six uncapped syringes, a glass narcotics pipe, a bag of pills identified as Trazadone, a Schedule 4 Anti-depressant, as well as a bag of suspected methamphetamine, according to reports.

The Ann Arbor man was charged with Retail Fraud, Aggravated Felony Assault, Assault and Battery, and Possession of Methamphetamine.
