Talented TSD Students Selected for MSBOA All-State Ensembles

The results are in. After an arduous audition process, a record-breaking thirty TSD musicians were chosen to participate in the 2024 Michigan School Band and Orchestra Association (MSBOA) All-State Ensembles. Over 100 Troy students auditioned in October at one of the sixteen sites across the state, and these 30 students were chosen as the best of the best—who will rehearse and perform as members of the All-State High School Orchestra, High School Band, Middle School Orchestra, and Middle School Band as a part of the 2024 Michigan Music Conference.

They represent each of Troy’s four middle schools and three high schools. Additionally, 8 students were recognized as Honorable Mention:

High School

ORCHESTRA: Karen Jin (violin), Ryeo-Won Kim (violin), Jing Yi Ma (viola), Benjamin Sheng (viola), Emily Baek (cello), Jisoo Park (cello), and Danielle Leight (bass)

BAND: Halle Chen (oboe), Jay Shyn (clarinet), Angela Park (clarinet), Sahana Mukund (bass clarinet), Brian Feng (alto saxophone), Daniel Lee (alto saxophone), Sohum Kapoor (trumpet), Brian Liu (trombone), Sarbani Sengupta (trombone), Brandon Mendoza (percussion)

Middle School

ORCHSTRA: Chole Kim (violin), Sihyeon Jun (violin), Gabriella Murphy (violin), Suhana Reddy (violin), Ariel Song (violin), Brian Zhang (violin), and Leon Ma (cello).

BAND: Andy Zhao (clarinet), Aryan Khedkar (bass clarinet), Anson Pingree (alto saxophone), Pujah Raj (alto saxophone), Tanishi Swami (alto saxophone), and Landon Taylor (French horn).

Honorable Mention

BAND: Ryan Deller (baritone saxophone), Jackson Hengstebeck (bassoon), Kashvi Mohan (oboe), Karl Ronmark (tuba), Yuchen Zhang (flute)

Each year thousands of students across the state work diligently to prepare the required music with hopes of joining one of these elite ensembles, and these students have exhibited exceptional skills and dedication to their craft, reflecting the high standards of musical education within the Troy School District. Their acceptance into the MSBOA All-State Ensembles is a testament to their hard work, passion, and the exceptional guidance provided by our dedicated music educators.
