125-acre site near current city hall would combine residential, commercial and other uses.

TROY, MI - Troy is often ranked as one of Michiganβs best places to live. Now, city leaders are working toward making it even better with its βTown Centerβ mixed use development that would feature parks, squares residential and commercial pieces on a 125-acre site near Big Beaver Road and I-75.
On March 28, the Troy Chamber of Commerce CEO Luncheon Series will feature a presentation on the Troy Town Center by Robert Gibbs, President of Gibbs Planning Group. The luncheon will be held at the Troy Embassy Suites at 11:30 am.
Overall, the plan, which some have dubbed as a βdowntownβ for Troy, proposes approximately 850 residential dwellings, 180,000 square feet of retail/commercial, a hotel, a revitalized city hall, community center, courthouse, library, a new 60,000 square foot civic building, a five-acre lake and nearly 60 acres of parks. Late last October, a joint meeting of Troyβs city council and planning commission produced an informal approval of a draft master plan for the project. The plan was developed over more than 18 months with input from Troy residents, community stakeholders, city staff and elected representatives, the Oakland Press reported.

Last December, plans were presented at New Yorkβs National Deal Making conference and received positive feedback from national developers. Troy City Manager Brian Kischnick, who attended the New York conference, told the Oakland Press the plan would create a dynamic, walkable, live-work-play environment in Troy.

βThis development will bring another 800 households accommodating all generations to our city,β Kischnick told the Oakland Press. βWe see this as a great complement to the Somerset Collection.β
