Troy City Council Sued for Allegedly Violating Open Meetings Act
Union legal advocate Robert Davis has filed a lawsuit against Troy City Council alleging they violated the state's Open Meetings Act during their city manager search.
Troy City Council is reportedly being sued by Citizens United Against Corrupt Governments, a nonprofit group created by union activist Robert Davis, the Detroit News reports.
Davis – who is widely known for filing lawsuits to enforce the Michigan Open Meetings Act – alleges that Troy's leaders violated the state Open Meetings Act on Aug. 15 when they met to pare a list of 19 city manager candidates down to , the Detroit Free Press reports.
A closed meeting is allowed "when you're reviewing candidates and they've asked for confidentiality," Troy City Attorney Lori Grigg Bluhm told the Free Press.

According to the Detroit News, Davis was indicted in April for allegedly stealing more than $125,000 from the Highland Park School District, though he has denied the charges.Â
Troy City Council in a 7-0 vote on Aug. 30. Kischnick will replace interim , who took over the position after long-time City Manager John Szerlag .
