Small Hotel Fire in Troy Sets Off Smoke Detector

A small fire at the Troy Marriott Hotel (200 West Big Beaver Rd., Troy) on Saturday did not necessitate an evacuation nor cause any injuries, according to a release from the Troy Fire Department.

Business remained opened throughout Saturday afternoon, but a smoke detector was set off from the fire involving an east side canopy structural support column. Damage was confined to a canopy support column on the east side of the building.

The fire is believed to have started on the outside of the column but remains under investigation.
