Troy High Bands to Host 24-Hour 'Music Marathon' Fundraiser

The day-long, nonstop concert will raise money for the Troy High School band program.

Not yet ready to call it a school year, the Bands have arranged a that's sure to be fun for all band members and the entire Troy community.Β Β

The Bands will host their second annual 24-hour music marathon from 3 p.m. June 1 to 3 p.m. June 2. For a whole day, students and band alumni will provide continuous music on the stage of the Troy High School auditorium. The marathon is free and open to the public, and parents, family and friends are encouraged to attend any and all of the performances!Β

All Troy bands – which includes three concert bands, a jazz band and the marching band – will participate in this event with student and alumni soloists and chamber ensembles taking up the rest of the time slots. The Campus Band will kick off the event at 3 p.m. followed by the drumline, which will play outside at 5:30 p.m. The Concert Band will then perform at 7 p.m., and the Jazz Ensemble is scheduled to play at 9 p.m.Β

New to the stage this year is the Colt Bands’ award-winning Winterguard, which will provide a special treat when they perform from 10-10:15 p.m. The Symphonic Band will end the festivities on Saturday when they take to the stage at 2 p.m.Β  Student and alumni soloists and ensembles will perform at pre-arranged times throughout the marathon as well.

As if playing the music they love isn’t enough, the bands will also be hosting two other fundraisers at the same time: a bottle and can drive designed specifically to support the colorguard and a car wash designed to help the drumline purchase a new marching drum set. Cans and bottles (or receipts from returnables) will be accepted in the THS auditorium lobby from 9 a.m.–1 p.m. June 2.

The music marathon fundraiser promises to be a great day and night and day (again!) of music and fun for a fantastic cause.
