Troy High DECA Team Achieves High Marks in International Competition

​Troy High DECA students achieved astoundingly impressive results at the International Career Development Conference held in Orlando.

Troy High DECA students achieved astoundingly impressive results at the International Career Development Conference held in Orlando this past week.

This past April, the Troy High DECA team had a record 42 students qualify to compete at the conference, which was held in Orlando, FL. They were excited to bring home the coveted DECA Glass 4 times this trip, which again is a huge record for our club! THS students competed with 22,000 DECA students from across the United States, Canada, China, Germany, Spain and Puerto Rico, and placed impressively at Grand Awards:

2nd Place: Matthew Zhao for Business Services Marketing Series

3rd Place: George Perakis for Human Resources Management Series

Ingrid Huang, Charlotte Worrel, Justine Perakis, Sanika Atmakur, Irene Oh, Harry Wang, and Muhammed Qureshi all placed in the Top 10 for their events.

Jiong Lei, Jesse Chang, Olivia Xu, and Anshul Singh all placed in the Top 20 for their events.

An extremely awesome stat is that Aleena Malik took 1st place back-to-back years for 2022 + 2023 for her event Marketing Communication Series.

Within each category, students competed with around 150-200 other students in their respective events.

DECA stands for Distributive Education Clubs of America, and gives high school students hands-on experience in marketing, business, and entrepreneurship. Its goal is to prepare future leaders for successful careers in fields like marketing, management, hospitality, and finance. 177,000 high school students currently participate in DECA. As technology and educational research advance, DECA’s programs and activities continuously evolve to better prepare students for the modern workforce.
