Troy Police Make Arrest in Concealed Weapons Violation Incident

The following information about police incidents is taken directly from the most recent Troy Police Department media releases.

Credit, check, identity theft, other fraud

2801 W. Big Beaver Rd., Nov. 4, 3:46 p.m.: Complainant advised her credit card was used at a store in Somerset Mall to purchase eyeglasses. Complainant stated she did not make the purchase.

1000 block of Kirts, Oct. 22 to Nov. 5, 12 p.m.: Resident reported her identity had been stolen and 10 credit cards had been opened in New York using her identity. 

2000 block of Orpington, Oct. 25, 9 a.m.: Resident advised she had several unauthorized charges to her debit card in Pennsylvania.

100 block of Telford, Oct. 7 to Nov. 5, 12 p.m.: Complainant advised he discovered two unauthorized charges from Netflix to his bank account.

1000 block of Latimer, Nov. 6, 9 a.m.: Complainant advised she discovered numerous charges to her Kohl’s charge in Minnesota which she did not authorize.

Driving under influence of alcohol/drugs 

Rochester Road and Interstate-75, Nov. 6, 4:15 a.m.: Officers stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver had glassy eyes and a strong odor of intoxicants coming inside the vehicle. The driver admitted to drinking and failed field sobrieties. The driver had several prior convictions for drunk driving. The driver, a 22-year-old from Rochester, was arrested for operating while intoxicated (third offense). Breath test results were .19 percent. 

John R and Wattles, Nov. 6, 6:14 a.m.: Officers received a call from Kroger advising a very intoxicated person just attempted to purchase wine and drove away. Officers located the vehicle that was attempting to park but ended up driving on the curb. The driver had glassy eyes and aroma of alcohol coming from her person. The driver failed field sobrieties and had prior convictions for drunk driving. The driver, a 35-year-old from Troy, was arrested for operating while intoxicated (third offense). A blood draw was conducted with results pending.

Stephenson Highway and East Maple Road, Nov. 7. 11:02 p.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle after observing it swerving out of its lane and driving in both lanes. Officers detected a strong odor of intoxicants coming from inside the vehicle. The driver admitted to drinking and failed field sobrieties. The driver, a 57-year-old from Hopkins, was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .20 percent. 

2800 Livernois, Nov. 8, 3:38 a.m.: Officers responded to suspicious vehicle call. Witness reported an occupied vehicle was blocking the driveway without its lights on. Officers located the vehicle and made contact with the driver who was observed to have a strong odor of intoxicants coming from her person.  The driver admitted to drinking and failed field sobrieties. The driver, a 39-year-old from Macomb was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .27 percent. 

Home invasions

1000 block of Vermont, Nov. 3-4, 8:30 p.m. to 2 p.m.: Resident advised he arrived home and discovered his back door had been kicked in. Resident reported his laptop and 55’ Sony LED TV were missing.

Larcenies

LA Fitness, 710 E. Big Beaver Rd., Nov. 6, 10:10–10:30 a.m.: Complainant advised she hung her coat on the coat rack in the locker room. When she returned her coat was gone. Inside the coat were her keys.

Taco Bell, 41167 Dequindre, Nov. 7, 3:52 p.m.: Employee advised someone stole the donation box from the counter. The box was tethered to the counter; however it was cut by the thief. The box contained an unknown amount of money for charity.

Larcenies from autos

300 block of Randall, Nov. 5-6, 9:30 p.m. to 6:15 a.m.: Resident reported his Pontiac Vibe’s rear passenger window was broken and his backpack was stolen. While on scene, officer was contacted that there had been another vehicle broken into in the same street and a Louis Vitton bag was missing. 

1000 block of Charlevoix, Nov. 4-5, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m.: Resident reported his laptop was stolen from his vehicle. Resident believes he left the vehicle unlocked since there was no damage to the vehicle. 

885 E. Long Lake Rd., Nov. 6, 2:10–3:20 p.m.: Complainant advised her vehicle was in the lot, when she returned she found the rear passenger side window broken and her briefcase missing.

Embassy Suites, 850 Tower Dr., Nov. 6-7, 9:30 p.m. to 7:15 a.m.: Complainant advised his GMC Yukon was parked in the lot overnight. When he returned to his vehicle he discovered the passenger side window had been smashed and the navigation system had been ripped out. 

Minors and alcohol 

Rochester Road and East Maple Road, Nov. 4, 10:40 p.m.: Officers stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. Officer’s detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Additionally the driver was observed to have an odor of intoxicants coming from his person. The driver, a 17-year-old from Troy did not have a driver’s license and officers discovered marijuana in the glove-box. The driver failed field sobrieties and was arrested for operating while intoxicated (person under 21 years with a blood alcohol content between .02-.07 percent), possession of marijuana, and no operator’s license. Breath test results were .07 percent. 

Retail fraud 

Kroger, 1237 Coolidge Hwy., Nov. 5, 6:51 p.m.: Loss prevention advised the suspect was observed selecting six packages of Red Bull, putting them in a shopping cart and walking out of the store without paying. Loss prevention stopped the suspect and recovered the merchandise valued at $142.13. The suspect, a 22-year-old from Clinton Township, had a prior conviction for theft and was arrested for second degree retail fraud. 

Weapons offenses

Rochester Court and Rochester Road, Nov. 7, 12:46 a.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle after observing it accelerate and “fishtail” all over the roadway. The driver was detected to have an odor of intoxicants coming from his person. The driver passed field sobrieties, however officers discovered marijuana in the car to which the driver had a medical marijuana card. Under the driver’s seat, officer discovered a loaded .38 S & W revolver. The driver, a 35-year-old from Roseville was arrest for carrying a concealed weapon.
