Troy Police Make Arrests in Drunken Driving Incidents

The following information about police incidents is taken directly from the most recent Troy Police Department media releases.

  • Crooks and South Boulevard, Oct. 18, 10:29 p.m.: Officers stopped a vehicle for a red light violation. The vehicle had a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside and the driver admitted to smoking marijuana earlier in the day. Officers searched the vehicle and found marijuana on the floor of the vehicle as well as zigzag papers. The driver, a 27-year-old from Rochester Hills failed field sobrieties and was arrested for operating in the presence of drugs, possession of marijuana and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.  A blood draw was conducted with results pending. 
  • 800 block of Colebrook, Oct. 19, 1:13 a.m.: Officers were dispatched to an accident. The responsible driver struck two parked cars in the street. The driver had an odor of alcohol coming from his person. The driver failed field sobrieties and admitted to drinking. The driver, a 24-year-old from South Lyon was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .09 percent.
  • Siena Drive and Dequindre, Oct. 19, 4:10 a.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle after observing it swerving out of its lane. The driver was observed with slurred speech and admitted to drinking. The driver, a 22-year-old from East Lansing failed field sobrieties and was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .14 percent.
  • Rochester and East Long Lake Road, Oct. 20, 12:28 a.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle for weaving across lanes. The driver had glassy eyes and slurred speech. The driver admitted to drinking and failed field sobrieties. The driver, a 39-year-old from Sterling Heights was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .14 percent. 
  • Interstate-75 and Wattles Road, Oct. 20, 2:28 a.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver had an odor of intoxicants coming from his person. The driver admitted to drinking and failed field sobrieties. The driver, a 21-year-old from Hazel Park was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results .09 percent.
  • East Big Beaver Road and John R, Oct. 20, 5:28 a.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver smelled strongly of intoxicants. The driver admitted to drinking and failed field sobrieties. The driver, a 47-year-old from Rochester Hills was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .16 percent.

Drugs/narcotics 

  • Interstate-75 and West 14 Mile Road, Oct. 19, 2:47 a.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver was able to pass field sobrieties. Officers suspected drug use and searched the vehicle. Officers found a bag of marijuana and a marijuana pipe in the drivers backpack. The driver, a 29-year-old from Clinton Township was cited for possession of marijuana and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.
  • West Big Beaver Road and Lakeview, Oct. 19, 8:27 a.m.: Troy officers were contacted by Somerset Security advising a vehicle had just left which had an odor of marijuana coming from it. Officers stopped the vehicle and detected an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The driver admitted to just smoking the marijuana. The driver, a 31-year-old from Detroit was cited for possession of marijuana.
  • Stephenson and Rochester Road, Oct. 21, 1:06 a.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle for failing to signal when turning. The driver consented to a search of the vehicle and officers discovered a marijuana cigarette. The driver had a medical marijuana card, however it was expired. The driver was cited for possession of marijuana.
