Troy Police Make Arrests in Drunken Driving, Minors with Alcohol Incidents

The following information about police incidents is taken directly from the most recent Troy Police Department media releases.

Breaking and entries

Crazy Joe’s Tanning, 4952 John R Rd., Oct. 26, 4:09 a.m.: Officer responded to an alarm activation. Officers arrived and discovered the front door smashed in by a large concrete block. The owner advised the cash tray containing $100 cash was missing. 

Emerald Lakes Cleaners, 5937 John R Rd., Oct. 27, 11:05 p.m.: Officers were dispatched to a burglary alarm. Officers discovered a large rock had been thrown through the front window. The owners advised the only thing missing was the cash register containing $30 cash. 

Drugs/narcotics

Oakland County Probation Office, 1151 Crooks Rd., Oct. 25, 12:15 p.m.: Troy Detectives were interviewing a suspect in a break-in investigation. The suspect was arrested for probable cause. Officers discovered a large baggie with marijuana in the suspects coat pocket. While handcuffed, the suspect attempted to flee from Officers. Officers caught the suspect and took him into custody. The suspect, a 24-year-old from Rochester Hills was arrested for possession of marijuana and resisting an officer.

JCPenney, 700 W. 14 Mile Rd. Oct. 25, 8:55 p.m.: Loss prevention advised the suspect was observed selecting merchandise and concealing it on her person. The suspect left the store failing to pay for the merchandise. Loss prevention stopped the suspect and recovered the merchandise valued at $58. While officers searched the suspect a bottle of prescription narcotics was found on the suspect’s person. The suspect, a 48-year-old from Sterling Heights was arrested for possession of prescription narcotics and third-degree retail fraud.

Driving under influence of alcohol/drugs

Interstate-75 and Rochester Road, Oct. 26, 1:48 a.m.: Troy officers responded to a possible drunk driver call. Witnesses stated the vehicle had hit the curb multiple times. The driver had slurred speech and appeared very sleepy. The driver failed field sobrieties. Officers discovered several prescription narcotics in the center console of the vehicle. The driver, a 21-year-old from Sterling Heights was arrested for operating under the presence of drugs, possession of narcotics and driving with a suspended license. A blood draw was conducted with results pending.

Stephenson Highway and West Fourteen Mile Rd, Oct. 26, 1:20 a.m.: Officers responded to an accident scene. The responsible driver in the accident smelled strongly of alcohol and marijuana. The driver had slurred speech and bloodshot eyes. The driver was found to have marijuana on his person and could not perform field sobrieties. The driver, a 30-year-old from Rochester Hills was arrested for possession of marijuana and operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .25 percent.

Interstate-75 and Rochester Road, Oct. 26, 3:04 a.m.: Troy officers observed a vehicle on the side of the freeway. The driver stated she had a flat tire. Officers could detect an odor of intoxicants coming from the driver’s breath. The driver admitted to drinking and failed field sobrieties. The driver, a 28-year-old from Rochester Hills was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .14 percent.

Stephenson Highway and West Maple Road, Oct. 27, 2:18 a.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle which was stopped at a green light for an extended time. The driver had a bottle of beer in her console and an overwhelming odor of intoxicants was coming from inside the vehicle. The driver had slurred speech and blood shot eyes. The vehicle had four flat tires which the driver was unaware of. The driver, a 24-year-old from Southfield failed field sobrieties. Officers discovered four crack cocaine rocks in the vehicle console and a baggie of heroin in the driver’s pocket. The driver was arrested for possession of heroin, possession of crack cocaine, operating while intoxicated (second offense) and driving with a suspended license. Breath test results were .16 percent.

Larcenies from autos

Macy’s, 500 W. 14 Mile Rd., Oct. 25, 12 noon: Complainant advised she parked her 2005 Chrysler 300 in the parking lot. When she returned she discovered all four wheels center caps were missing. The caps were valued at $800.

Malicious destruction of property

300 block of Folkstone, Oct. 26, 11 to 11:59 p.m.: Resident advised he parked his vehicle in the driveway over night. When he returned he discovered a brick had been thrown through the rear window.

5000 block of Abington, Oct. 26-27, 8:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.: Complainant advised he parked his vehicle in front of the residence. When he returned he discovered his windshield shattered.

Minors and alcohol

East Big Beaver and John R Road, Oct. 27, 3:04 a.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle for a tinted windows violation. Officers detected an odor of intoxicants and marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Officers observed a large baggie of marijuana on the passenger floorboard. The driver admitted to drinking and smoking marijuana. The driver, a 19-year-old from Sterling Heights failed field sobrieties and was arrested for possession of marijuana and minor operating while intoxicated (zero tolerance). Breath test results were .03 percent.

Livernois and East Long Lake Road, Oct. 27, 11:27 p.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle for a prohibited turn. The driver had bloodshot glassy eyes and a strong odor of alcohol was coming from inside the vehicle. The driver, a 19-year-old from Sterling Heights failed field sobrieties. Officers discovered marijuana in the trunk of the vehicle. The driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated and possession of marijuana. Breath test results were .21 percent.
