Troy Police Make Arrests in Drunken Driving, Retail Fraud Incidents
The following information about police incidents is taken directly from the most recent Troy Police Department media releases.

Auto/vehicle thefts
3000 block of Millay Drive, Oct. 22, 12 midnight to 7 a.m.: Resident reported he parked his 2003 Cadillac Escalade in the driveway overnight. When he returned the vehicle was missing. Inside the vehicle were passports birth certificates, social security cards and sunglasses.
Credit, check, identity theft, other fraud
5000 block of Catlin Ct., Oct. 21, 2:20 p.m.: Complainant advised she tried to log on to her Visa account and could not. Complainant contacted Visa and was advised 18 charges were made on her account for which she did not authorize.
5000 block of Buckingham Pl., Sept. 30, 3:25 p.m.: Complainant advised he was contacted by someone over the phone requesting to update his Medicare card. The complainant provided his Medicare number. A month later complainant advised he was contacted by his bank regarding a check in the amount of $448.52 that he did not authorize.

2000 block of Valley View Drive, Oct. 11, 12 noon: Resident reported she discovered numerous accounts were attempted to be opened in her name at Kohl’s, Sears, Best Buy and Nordstrom. Resident stated no one had authorization to use her information.
2000 block of Grandhaven, Sept. 3 to Oct. 23, 12 noon: Resident advised she reviewed her credit history and found five charges totaling $1,987.41 that she did not make.

Drugs/narcotics
West Big Beaver Road and Golfview, Oct. 23, 9:54 p.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle for a plate violation. There was an odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle and the passenger stated he was smoking and had a medical marijuana card however did not have it on his person. The driver was found to be suspended four times. A search of the vehicle was conducted and officers found prescription drugs under the driver’s seat and marijuana and prescription pills under the passenger’s seat. The driver, a 28-year-old from Detroit was arrested for driving with a suspended license and possession of prescription narcotics. The passenger, a 33-year-old from Detroit, was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of prescription narcotics.
Driving under influence of alcohol/drugs
Crooks Road and West Long Lake Road, Oct. 22, 3:57 a.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver had glassy eyes and a strong odor of intoxicants was coming from inside the vehicle. The driver was found to have a suspended license and prior convictions for drunk driving. The driver, a 24-year-old from Bloomfield Hills failed field sobrieties and was arrested for operating while intoxicated (third offense) and driving while license suspended. Breath test results were .20 percent.
West Long Lake Road and Livernois, Oct. 24, 10:10 p.m.: Troy officers were dispatched to a possible drunk driver. Witnesses stated the vehicle had hit several curbs and swerved into other lanes of travel. Officers located the vehicle and the driver was confused and could not follow simple instructions. The driver admitted to taking multiple prescription narcotics prior to driving. The driver, a 33-year-old from Rochester failed field sobrieties and was arrested for operating under the influence of drugs. A blood draw was conducted with results pending.
Larcenies from autos
2000 block of Somerset, Oct. 20-21, 2 to 3 a.m.: Complainant advised his 2006 Buick Rendezvous was in the lot and someone stole the catalytic convertor off it.
Suburban Cadillac, 1810 Maplelawn, Oct. 21, 9:48 a.m.: Complainant advised four tires were missing off of a Cadillac Escalade in the lot. Complainant valued the tires at $4,000.
1000 block of Bloomingdale, Oct. 21-22, 8 p.m. to 10:50 a.m.: Complainant advised her vehicle was parked overnight. When she returned she discovered the driver’s side front window broken out. Complainant stated her GPS and checkbook were missing.
Malicious destruction of property
Hassan & Bro’s Meat Market, 2904 East Long Lake Road, Oct. 21, 8:38 p.m.: Complainant advised he heard two loud bangs against the outside windows. Complainant advised when he checked, he found two hammers lying on the ground and two holes in the shop windows. Complainant estimated the damage at $1,500.
Minors and alcohol
Stephenson Highway and Rochester Road, Oct. 24, 12:39 a.m.: Troy officers stopped a vehicle after observing it weaving back and forth out of its lane. The driver had slurred speech and an odor of alcohol coming from her person. The driver admitted to drinking and failed field sobrieties. The driver, a 20-year-old from Fraser was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .08 percent.
Retail fraud
JCPenney, 700 W. 14 Mile Rd., Oct. 23, 1:38 p.m.: Loss prevention advised the suspect was observed selecting jewelry and concealing it in her purse. The suspect left the store failing to pay for the concealed merchandise. Loss prevention stopped the suspect and recovered the merchandise values at $66. The suspect, a 55-year-old from Sterling Heights was arrested for retail fraud.
Saks Fifth Avenue, 2901 W. Big Beaver Rd., Oct. 23, 5:40 p.m.: Loss prevention advised the suspect was observed selecting two blouses and entering the fitting room. When the suspect exited there was only one blouse which she returned to the sales rack. The suspect left the store failing to pay for the concealed merchandise. Loss prevention stopped the suspect and recovered the blouse from her purse which was valued at $248. The suspect, a 53-year-old from Pleasant Ridge had prior convictions for retail fraud and was arrested for first-degree retail fraud.Â
