Troy Police Make Arrests in Felonious Assault, Retail Fraud Incidents
The following information about police incidents is taken directly from the most recent Troy Police Department media releases.

Auto/vehicle thefts
2000 block of Homewood, Oct. 28-29, 10 p.m. to 7:25 a.m.: Resident reported his 2003 Ford Taurus was parked in the driveway over night. When he returned he discovered the vehicle missing. Resident believes he may have left the keys in the vehicle.
Breaking and entries
LG Electronics, 1832 Technology, Oct. 25-26, 3:30 p.m. to 9:20 a.m.: Complainant advised the business had been broken into by someone prying open a door. Missing from the business was 10 spools of 500’ electrical wire valued at $50 each.
Driving under influence of alcohol/drugs
East Long Lake Road and Rochester Road, Oct. 29, 6:58 a.m.: Troy officers were dispatched to a vehicle at a light with the driver sleeping at the wheel. Officers observed the driver passed out and two other occupants appeared drunk or high. The vehicle had a very strong redolence of burnt marijuana coming from inside. The driver, a 21-year-old from West Bloomfield failed field sobrieties and was arrested for operating under the influence of drugs, possession of marijuana and possession of prescription narcotics. A blood draw was conducted with results pending.

754 W. Maple Rd., Oct. 29, 11:49 p.m.: Officers observed a vehicle running in the parking lot. Officers observed the driver passed out at the wheel with his foot on the brake pedal. The driver had a very strong odor of intoxicants on his breath. The driver, a 54-year-old from Medway, MA, failed field sobrieties and was arrested for operating while intoxicated. Breath test results were .22 percent.
Larcenies
1000 block of Kirts, Oct. 9, 3:04 p.m.: Resident reported she took off her engagement ring and put it next to her jewelry box, when she returned the ring was missing. Resident reported recently a man came to her apartment door requesting to exchange fire extinguishers. When she realized her ring was missing she called the apartment manager who stated no one was ever sent out to exchange fire extinguishers. The ring was valued at $50,000.

4000 Block of Gamber Drive, Oct. 29, 6:17 p.m.: Resident reported he left his lawn mower near the street while he ran an errand. When he returned he discovered his mower gone. Resident reported it was garbage day.
Larcenies from autos
LA Fitness, 710 E. Big Beaver Rd., Oct. 28, 8-9 p.m.: Complainant advised her car was parked in the lot, when she returned her front passenger window was smashed and her purse was missing.
LA Fitness, 3501 W. Maple Rd., Oct. 28, 9:15–9:45 p.m.: Complainant advised her passenger side window was smashed and her purse that was on the front passenger side floorboard was missing. The purse contained her wallet and iPhone.
2000 block of Quartz, Oct. 28-29 11:50 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.: Complainant reported the rear window of her vehicle was smashed and her purse was stolen form the backseat of the vehicle.Â
2000 block of Homewood Drive, Oct. 29, 12 midnight to 8:30 a.m.: Resident reported his vehicle had been broken into and his Droid cell phone and $20 cash were missing.
4000 block of Fairmont, Oct. 28-29, 7 p.m. to 9 a.m.: Resident reported his vehicle was parked in the driveway overnight. When he returned to the vehicle he discovered his Nikon Camera and equipment along with his golf clubs were missing.
Retail fraudÂ
Sears, 300 W. 14 Mile Rd., Oct. 28, 5:35 p.m.: Loss prevention advised the suspect was observed selecting merchandise and concealing it on her person. The suspect exited the store failing to pay for the merchandise. Loss prevention stopped the suspect and recovered the merchandise valued at $469. The suspect, a 41-year-old from Royal Oak was arrested for second-degree retail fraud.
Kroger, 31 E. Long Lake Rd., Oct. 29, 12:41 a.m.: Employees advised the suspect was observed selecting 18 cans of Redi-Whip and entering the restroom. The suspect was found to be inhaling the aerosol from the cans. Officers detected an odor of intoxicants on the suspect’s breath. The suspect, a 20-year-old from Troy took a preliminary breath test with results of .15 percent. The suspect asked officers to remove his marijuana from the vehicle he drove because it was his father’s car and he did not want his father held responsible for the marijuana. The suspect was arrested for third-degree retail fraud, possession of marijuana, inhale chemical agents, and minor with a blood alcohol content.
Kohl’s, 500 John R Rd., Oct. 29, 5:15 p.m.: Loss prevention advised two suspects were observed selecting merchandise and placing it in their purses. The suspects left the store failing to pay for the merchandise. Loss prevention stopped the suspect and recovered the merchandise valued at $184.00. The suspects, both 19-year-olds from Hazel Park and Madison Heights were arrested for third-degree retail fraud.
Weapons offenses
Oakland Shoe and Leather Repair, 412 W. 14 Mile Rd., Oct. 29, 3:54 p.m.: Victim reported he took his shoes in for repair, when he picked them up he was unsatisfied with the cleaning. The clerk told the victim he would do them again however he would have to come back tomorrow. The clerk would not allow the victim to take his shoes without paying for the cleaning. The victim asked to speak to the owner however the clerk would not allow him to speak to the owner. The discussion became heated and the clerk reached into a drawer and pulled out a .380 hand gun exposing it to the victim. The clerk, a 74-year-old from Detroit was arrested for felonious assault.Â
