Troy Restaurant Manager Assaulted
A Detroit man is charged with assaulting a restaurant manager after allegedly pushing her to the floor.

TROY, MI — A Piada Restaurant employee was recently arrested and charged with assault and battery after pushing a manager to the floor. Police were dispatched to the W. Big Beaver restaurant at about 5 p.m. on May 17 on call of a 26-year-old Detroit man fighting with staff.
Police reports said the man became upset when a manager told him his performance was poor. He allegedly kicked a piece of equipment and was told to leave. Reports said the Detroit man then got in the face of the manager and yelled at her. He was fired at that point and responded by shoving the manager to the floor.
The Detroit man eventually left the restaurant and was stopped by Troy officers, reports said. Officers discovered the man had a misdemeanor warrant out of the 52-4 District Court in Troy for Failure to Appear in Court - Traffic and was arrested. He was charged with Assault and Battery, Malicious Destruction of Property, and Resist and Obstruction of a Police Officer.

A Troy man was bilked out of $900 in a recent phone scam, according to police reports. He received a phone call on May 16 from someone claiming to be employed with the “Geek Squad.” The Melcombe Circle mand told police he had received help from members of the Geek Squad in the past and believed the call was legitimate.
The caller told the Troy man he had accidentally deposited $1,700 into the victim’s account and he needed to get it back or he would be fired. The victim allowed the subject access to his computer and he convinced the victim to purchase iTunes Gift Cards to repay the money. The Troy man purchased $900 in gift cards and provided them to the suspect.
The Troy man told police he was about to purchase $800 more when he felt it might be a scam. He contacted the police department who confirmed that it was a scam, reports said.
