Troy Sheet Metal Workers Local Closed After Fire
There were no injuries reported as the result of a Monday afternoon fire.

A two-alarm fire on Monday afternoon caused extensive damage to Troy Sheet Metal Workers Local 292, but resulted in no injuries, according to a Troy Fire Department press release.
The sheet metal business,Β located east of Livernois and south of Maple on the Troy-Clawson border,Β remained closed on Tuesday as investigators worked to establish the cause of the fire, which damaged the front, two-story office section, but not the rear warehouse nor its contents.
Two stations, along with one rescue team and one air tender team were dispatched to the scene around 3 p.m. Monday but were forced to back out upon encountering high heat and heavy smoke. Soon after, the fire began to burn through the roof, and a third station was called to the scene.
Two ladder trucks were set up, usingΒ large capacity hose nozzles to combat the fire with waterΒ from the air and keep it contained to the front portion of the building.Β All occupants had safely evacuated prior to TFD arrival. There were no injuries to civilians or firefighters.
In all, 46 firefighters responded and worked for several hours to extinguish the fire despite high heat and humid weather. Park Street was closed to traffic throughout the incident.
