Troy Theatre Ensemble’s Announces Spring Musical “Footloose”

The Troy Theatre Ensemble, Troy High School’s award-winning theatre troupe, has announced the cast for its Spring 2024 musical, Footloose, featuring a cast, stage crew and pit crew of more than 80 students.

Based on the 1984 film starring Kevin Bacon, Footloose is the story of Ren McCormack, a teenage boy from Chicago. When Ren and his mother move to a small farming town, he is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. But he’s not prepared for the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, who is determined to exercise control over the town’s youth. When the reverend’s rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren’s reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The heartfelt story that emerges pins a father longing for the son he lost against a young man aching for the father who walked out on him. With dynamic new songs augmenting the powerhouse hits from its bestselling Oscar-nominated score, Footloose celebrates the exhilaration of youth, the wisdom of listening to one another, and the power of forgiveness.

Performances are Friday March 1st and Saturday March 2nd at 7pm, Sunday March 3rd at 2pm,

Friday March 8th and Saturday March 9th at 7pm, and Sunday March 10th at 2pm.

Box office opens on February 1, 2024, and all seats are reserved and sold online at: http://troytheatreensemble.seatyourself.biz. Adults are $20.00, Senior Citizens 60 and over are $15.00, and Students K-12 are $15.00. General admission will be sold at the box office 30 minutes prior to showtime, if still available.
