Troy United Girls Hockey All-State Awards
Troy United Girls Hockey completed its fourth season in early March and although a playoff championship didn't come their way, many positives came out of this season. New coaches Brendan Kischnick (OHL playing and scouting experience with Erie Otters) and Payton Dockus (coming off 4 college playing seasons with Suffolk Rams NCAA D3) brought years of experience and hockey knowledge to share and inspire the girls. The girls again fielded a varsity and jv team with 34 girls competing throughout the season. Many new girls fell in love with hockey and hopefully more will join and further grow the team and sport!
Three of the girls were nominated for All-State Awards, voted on by the league's coaches. Athens junior and co-captain Kate Kischnick earned an All-State Honorable Mention Award at defense and Troy seniors Lydia Dardar and co-captain Megan Moceri also taking home All-State Awards. Lydia earned All-State Honorable Mention at Goalie and Megan earned Second Team All-State at Forward. This is Megan's third All-State recognition having earned All-State Honorable Mention at Defense as a freshman and Second Team All-State at Defense as a junior. Megan will continue her hockey career playing NCAA Division 3 hockey at Hilbert College in New York!
