Woman Hits, Pins Pedestrian, 69, Under Car at Kroger

A 69-year-old Berkley man is in critical condition Saturday evening after being struck by a 2011 Cadillac CTS in a Troy parking lot Saturday afternoon.

According to a media release, a 78-year-old Franklin, MI woman was pulling into a parking spot just before 2 p.m. when she struck the man, Robert Baldwin, pinning him under the vehicle.

Baldwin sustained serious injuries and had to be extricated by , who inflated air bags to lift the vehicle up and extricate Baldwin. Alliance Mobile Health transported Baldwin to Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, where he remains in critical condition Saturday afternoon.

Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the incident. Any witnesses to the crash are asked to contact the Traffic Safety Unit at 248-524-3477.
