5 Things to Know About the Orchard Lake Fine Art Fair

We've got the scoop on hours, parking and more for this annual event, which starts on Friday.

Are you planning to go to the Orchard Lake Fine Art Fair this weekend? Here are a few things you should know before heading out:

1. Location, location, location.

You'll find the Orchard Lake Fine Art Fair south of Maple and west of Orchard Lake Road, on Powers and Daly Roads, where the event has been for the past four years. Hours are 5 p.m.-9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on Sunday.

2. There's a charge for admission.

While children ages 12 and under get in free, everyone else pays $5. Those funds go to support The Institute for the Arts & Education, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit that promotes art-related events and education in the community.

3. You can park free, and there's plenty of room for your car.

Park behind Beaumont Medical Center, off Orchard Lake and south of Maple, or behind commercial buildings in the area. A map posted on the event website shows where you can – and cannot – park.

4. It's not just about the art.

The fair also offers live entertainment, featuring vocalist Michelet Innocent, Charlene Berry on the hammered dulcimer, pianists Bob Geresti and
Jeffrey Michaels, on both days.

5. View future artists at work.

Kids can try out plaster painting, tie-dye T-shirts, make candles and will take home what they make. You'll also see the winners of the 7th Annual Youth Art Competition, open to kids from kindergarten through 8th grade.
