Entertainment Abounds This Weekend in West Bloomfield

Young actors launch productions of 'Chicago' and 'Rumors'.

Performance groups take center stage this weekend in West Bloomfield, starting tonight with the opening of a youth theater production.

Here are four entertaining ways to spend time this weekend:

1. Chicago at The Berman

Forever After Productions opens this Broadway smash musical Thursday, with performances running through Sunday. Chicago puts the story of Roxie Hart, an ambitious chorus girl who murders her lover and convinces her gullible husband to take the rap, to music. Learn more at www.foreverafternow.com.

2. Rumors at Orchard Lake Community Church

August Theater Company, a troupe of Andover High School alums, presents this Neil Simon classic about several affluent couples who panic after a posh suburban dinner party, hosted by New York's deputy mayor, doesn't go as planned. The show opens Friday; learn more at augusttheater.webs.com.

3. Saturday morning LIVE! at the library

Bring the kids to this West Bloomfield Township Public Library program, which includes amazing stories, songs and interactive group activities. The fun starts at 11 a.m., and the event is recommended for ages 5 and under.

4. West Bloomfield High Tag Days at local grocery stores

Look for performing groups of students Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Hiller's Market, Maple and Orchard Lake and Union Lake and Commerce Roads, and La Rosa Market, on Orchard Lake Road in Keego Harbor. Donate to support these young musicians and enjoy the music!
