Farmington Schools Seeks Members for Trimester Review Committee

The deadline has been extended to Oct. 24.

Farmington Public Schools has extended applications for the High School Structure Committee, which will examine the current system of trimesters, to Oct. 24, 4 p.m.

The district installed trimesters in 2007 to reduce expenditures, while maintaining a scheduling model that allowed students to explore a wide variety of elective classes. One of the recommendations in a 2012 review of the structure included the exploration of other schedules.

Officials have charged the committee with making a recommendation(s), identifying the strengths, challenges, and any resources needed for implementation, with a report due to the Board of Education in April, 2014.

More information, meeting dates and times and application details can be found on the district's website. Paper copies of the application can be obtained in any school office. The goal is to include community, parent and student representation from across the District. Teachers and administrators will also be invited to serve, as well as District administrators.
