Former Deputy Treasurer Sues West Bloomfield, Harrison Officials
Maynard left the township after officials reduced his pay by 40 percent.

Former West Bloomfield Township deputy treasurer Jared Maynard, whose brief tenure was marked by controversy, has sued West Bloomfield and Harrison Township officials.
Maynard, a Macomb County GOP official, was Harrison Township's deputy treasurer before being hired in West Bloomfield. Shortly after he was hired, West Bloomfield officials stripped him of authority and slashed his pay by 40 percent.
Attorney Frank Cusumano told The Oakland Press that Maynard "was railroaded and trampled underfoot", over his Republican politics and "acting as a whistleblower".
Township supervisor Michele Economou Ureste told the newspaper the accusations are "a bunch of bunk". She said Maynard caused turmoil at Town Hall and in his behavior with other employees.
An August motion affirming Maynard's salary reduction cited 17 issues with his performance, including:
- Provides no feedback or communication on any issue.
- Money is moved from one fund to another and from one account to another without providing a record in BSA software system
- Bullies and intimidates employees
- Tax distributions do not appear to have been recorded since July 15, 2013
“I’ve never seen anyone create such a firestorm in one week’s time. It was unbelievable,” Ureste told The Oakland Press.
