Friendship Circle Hosts Sensory Friendly Roller Skating Event

No flashing lights or other special effects will be used during the Nov. 10 event at BonaVenture in Farmington Hills.

Kids who are sensitive to the noise and flashing lights that are typical of a roller skating rink can enjoy a "sensory friendly" night of skating Nov. 10, 6 p.m.-8 p.m., at BonaVenture Family Skating Center in Farmington Hills.

During this special skating session, hosted by The Friendship Circle of West Bloomfield, the rink will be brighter than usual, special effects will not be used, and the music will be turned down to a quieter level. Other sensory-friendly activities will also be available for those who do not want to skate.

Parents and caregivers without roller skates may accompany their skaters on the rink, and a limited number of skate trainers will also be available for new or unsteady skaters.

Cost is $10 per skater in advance, $13 per skater at the door, and there is no charge for non-skaters.
