Mad Scientist Gives Kids a Hair-Raising Experience

A mad scientist visited the West Bloomfield Township library Thursday, engaging kids with shocking experiments.

Thermonuclear Thad, one of several metro Detroiters who do shows through the Mad Science franchise, used hands-on activities and humor to demonstrate how electricity works. Kids built circuits to light tiny bulbs, but the highlight of the afternoon was the hair-raising Van de Graaff electrostatic generator.
