Walled Lake Schools Fifth Grader Wins at State Diving Event

Ciara McCliment attends Hickory Woods Elementary School.

Ciara McCliment, a Walled Lake Consolidated Schools fifth grade student at Hickory Woods Elementary in Novi, has been hard at work all summer training for the Michigan Diving State Championships, which recently took place in Kalamazoo.

McCliment took first place in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives for girls age 10-11 years old. She was named Michigan Diver of the Year for her age group and scored a personal best in the 1-meter dive.

In order to prepare for the championships, McCliment has been practicing around the clock, sometimes twice a day at Eastern Michigan University. Her recent success shows all that hard work paid off.
