West Bloomfield High Teacher Faces Sexual Misconduct Charges

Farmington Hills resident Steven Larkin coached girls golf and taught history before he was placed on administrative leave in May.

West Bloomfield High teacher Steve Larkin, 30,Β pleaded not guilty FridayΒ to three counts ofΒ criminal sexual conduct, following what officials say was an incident of inappropriate contact with a female student.Β 

According to published reports,Β Larkin is aΒ Farmington Hills resident and has taught at the school since 2006. He served asΒ head coach for the girls golf team and taught history before being placed on administrative leave in May, the Detroit Free Press reported.Β 

According to WDIV-TV,Β the incident occurredΒ "during an after school one-on-one tutoring session in a classroom" with a 16-year-old, 10th grade student.Β 

β€œAnytime there is an allegation, we are concerned about school safety and we want to assure parents that we take it very seriously and are cooperating with authorities,” Superintendent GeraldΒ Hill told the newspaper.Β 

Larkin is free on bond; he is expected back inΒ 48th District Court on Tuesday.Β
