2 Men Try To Carjack Woman At Gunpoint While She Was Pumping Gas In Oakland County: Police

Police said one of the men then approached a woman while she was pumping gas into her car and demanded her keys at gunpoint.

WATERFORD TOWNSHIP, MI β€” Two men were arrested in connection with an attempted armed carjacking in Oakland County over the weekend, according to police.

The incident happened Saturday afternoon at a Citgo gas station at 4289 Walton Blvd. in Waterford Township, according to police.

Police said two men were inside a stolen black Ford Mustang when they entered the gas station.

One of the men then approached a woman while she was pumping gas into her car and demanded her keys at gunpoint, according to police.

Another customer at the gas station intervened and the suspected carjacker ran back into the Mustang, which then sped away from the gas station, according to police.

An off-duty officer spotted the Mustang and the suspects later that afternoon in a Meijer parking lot on Highland Road in Waterford Township, according to police.

The off-duty officer followed the suspects in the parking lot until more officers arrived and stopped the car, according to police.

Officers arrested both men in connection with the incident, according to police.

Officers found two handguns, magazines and ammunition inside the car, according to police.

Investigators believe the suspects were going to try another carjacking in the Meijer parking lot.

Police turned over their investigation to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office for charges.
