Bicyclist Hit, Killed By Jeep In Metro Detroit: Police

Officials said the driver of the Jeep crossed over the solid white line at the edge of the roadway and hit the bicyclist.

HIGHLAND TOWNSHIP, MI β€” A man has died after he was hit by a Jeep while riding a bicycle in Oakland County, according to the sheriff's office.

The crash happened at 7:24 p.m. Sunday on Milford Road near Rowe Road in Highland Township, officials said.

Officials said 53-year-old Todd Michael Luark was riding a bicycle south on Milford Road when he was hit by a 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee that was moving in the same direction.

Officials said officers found Luark unconscious and lying in the driveway of a house in the area. They tried to revive him, but he died at the scene, officials said.

An autopsy was scheduled for Monday.

Investigators determined the driver of the Jeep, a 45-year-old Farmington Hills man, crossed over the solid white line at the edge of the roadway and struck Luark.

No other details were released.

Officials were still investigating the crash.
