Metro Detroit Man Arrested After Using Fake Money To Order Pizzas: Police

Officials said the man used phony $100 bills to pay for the orders and then left the stores after receiving his change.

INKSTER, MI β€” A 21-year-old Inkster man is in trouble after using fake money to buy pizza in two Oakland County cities, according to sheriff's officials.

Javon Lavell Smith was charged with uttering and publishing counterfeit bills or notes. He was placed in jail, but then released after posting bond. His next court date is scheduled for Nov. 19.

On Oct. 7, officials said Smith ordered pizzas at restaurants in Milford and Highland Township. They said he used phony $100 bills to pay for the orders and then left the stores after receiving his change. He never returned to pick up either order, officials said.

Investigators later arrested Smith at his home, officials said.
