COMMERCE TOWNSHIP, MI — An Oakland County jury on Tuesday convicted a man of killing his wife in 2021, according to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office.

Officers found 59-year-old Tatiana Vuichard dead from multiple stab wounds inside a Commerce Township home on May 17, 2021, according to prosecutors.

Vuichard, a longtime Novi School District employee, failed to show up that day, concerning her co-workers who then called police, according to prosecutors.

When officers arrived at the Commerce Township home, her husband, 66-year-old Vincent Vuichard, answered the door, according to prosecutors.

When Vincent let officers inside the home, they found a comforter covering something on the floor, according to prosecutors.

When officers asked Vincent what it was, he said it was his wife, according to prosecutors.

At Vuichard's arraignment in 2021, prosecutors said he was wearing a blood-stained shoe and had noticeable scratches to his face when he answered his door. When asked about the injuries he told deputies that he was "getting into it" the night before with his wife, according to prosecutors.

Vincent Vuichard asserted an insanity defense during the trial, but jurors rejected that defense after less than one day of deliberations, according to prosecutors.

After a six-day trial, Vincent Vuichard was convicted of first-degree murder, which carries a mandatory sentence of life in prison, according to prosecutors.

Vincent Vuichard will be sentenced Feb. 6, 2025.

"Tanya Vuichard was a mother, grandmother, friend, and coworker — her senseless murder is a huge loss to the community," Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald said in a statement.
