Oakland County Mom, 2 Sons Dead After Car Crashes Into Creek: Police
Investigators were still trying to determine if speed and alcohol played a role in the crash.
LAPEER COUNTY, MI β An Oakland County mom and her two sons died Saturday after their car crashed into a creek in Lapeer County, according to police.
Police said the Waterford woman was driving a 2021 Buick Enclave with her two young sons on Lippincott Road, east of Lake Nepessing in Elba Township at 8:43 p.m. when she crossed into the other lane to try and pass a car that was moving slow.
The Enclave then struck a guardrail, rolled over and landed in a creek where it was completely submerged except for its rear tires, according to police.

The driver of the Enclave, 32-year-old Jenee Suddeth, was killed in the crash, according to police.
Suddeth two sons, ages 12 and 9, were taken to nearby hospitals, where they also died, according to police.

The roadway was closed for closed hours while officials removed the car from the creek, but has since reopened, according to police.
Investigators were still trying to determine if speed played a role in the crash. They are also waiting for a toxicology report to determine if alcohol played a role in the crash.
"This very tragic crash remains under investigation by Lapeer County Sheriffβs Deputies," police said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with friends and family impacted by this tragic event."
